My name is Marty Coulson and I have been proudly representing Wellston Schools as the FFA Advisor and Agricultural Education Instructor for the past 19 years. I have had the priveledge of working with many outstanding students throughout my career at Wellston. I was fortunate to grow up in a family of educators. Both my parents taught at Wellston school where my dad taught industrial arts for almost 40 years. I have many aunts, uncles, and cousins who are educators, my grandmother taught school at a small school in Dewey County and my great -grandfather also taught and was the county superintendent in Dewey County many years ago. I am proud to be a fifth generation educator hoping to impact the lives of my students each day. I graduated from Wellston High in 1988. After high school, I attended Connors State College and received my Associate Degree and then transfered to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. I was fortunate to do my student teaching at Cushing High School under the leadership of Mr. Max Myers and Mr. Alan Smith. After graduation, I worked in the Corporate Swine Industry for two years in Hennessey Oklahoma where I was the breeding herd manager for a 1650 sow genetic nucleus farm. I began my teaching career at Wellston in August 1995. Throughout my career I have had numerous students reach many goals. Several students have been State and American FFA Degree recipients and have won many awards on the State and National level.I have coached state winning teams or individuals in Land Judging, Entomology, Sporting Clays, FFA Ceremonies, and Public Speaking.
